According to Dong Nguyen, Flappy Bird will cease to exist in a couple of hours. Apparently the overnight success of Flappy Birds has been constant source of stress for the indie developer. “I can call ‘Flappy Bird’ is a success of mine. But it also ruins my simple life. So now I hate it.”, Dong wrote.
With more than 50 million downloads and an average of $50,000 in ad revenue a day, the decision to remove the app from the mobile marketplace may seem foolish, but when you consider the pressure and expectations placed on Nguyen from the media, the decision makes sense.
As of last month, the game became the most downloaded free app on Itunes. Flappy Bird was released on May 2013 for IOS and January 30th, 2014 for Android by GEARS Studio.
