“Too many opinions not enough facts”,Yams wrote on Twitter. Although many people deny the problems that NY Hip Hop is facing, you know these problems exist when the mastermind behind ASAP speaks up. Lack of unity, communication, and leadership are all problems that must be addressed.
Too many people in New York are restricted by the past and what they believe is “real” Hip Hop. It’s common to see southern and western artists hook up for dope records, but for NY artists it’s another scenario due to beef and conflicting ideals.
While the ASAP Mob receives heavy criticism for the music they put out, they undeniably put New York on the map with their constant stream of heavy hitting music.
If the New York Hip Hop scene wants to break out of the box it has been put in, New York must adapt to the times and let go of what’s believed to be “real” Hip Hop.
