Since the shooting of Michael Brown at Ferguson, Missouri black people across the United States have taken to the streets to protest and express their frustration. It’s Trayvon Martin all over again. Barack Obama is in a tough position. He can’t fully express how he feels about the situation without alienating or irritating the group of people that helped him get into office. It’s understandable.
What’s not understandable is how long we as a people let law enforcement treat our women and children. If Michael Brown was white, and the police officer that shot him was black, would this situation be receiving the same negligence? Of course not. Too many black lives are lost to this system. From a young age, we are taught to be wary of the police and dress, talk, and act a certain way around them. Similar to how girls are taught to dress more conservatively to avoid rape.
The media is even trying to paint Brown as a delinquent for the picture above. Are the men below criminals as well?
