Call it a comeback. Call it a mid life crisis. Call it what you want. But whether you noticed or not, Sean Combs aka Puff Daddy aka P.Diddy has been MOVING. Whether he is smacking up Rappers, Smacking up Coaches, Smacking up stage sets. Or as of recent, exposing world class loved and adored black actresses.
(Cmon Diddy, why the hell did you do this. Now I will never be able to view Sanaa Lathan the same 🙁 )
Diddy has been on his grizzly. If you follow Puff on instagram, you would notice that for the past couple of months he has been bombarding us with hashtags such as #BADBOY #PUFFDADDYANDTHEFAMILY #WEBACK #NEWYORK #NYCGOTSOMETHINGTOSAY #HARLEM #THEFAMILY
One could simply brush it off as Diddy being Diddy and self promoting and self proclaiming his upcoming album #MMM(MoneyMakingMitch), as the game changing, show stopping, flow bopping album that we surely believe he believes it is.
Now, while we are a fan of his latest single
There is something deeper going on right before our eyes. With the power of social media, Puff Daddy has found a new way to connect directly to his core audience,as well as a new generation of music lovers and has been slowly but surely prepping the stage for a full on Bad Boy Takeover. A takeover that goes beyond his upcoming album #MMM. A takeover that goes beyond reuniting with Mase,The Lox and Lil Kim. A takeover that appears to be a complete re-vamping and re-branding of his vintage label.
Now for the past couple of years, it’s always been the talk of the town that Diddy has been desperately looking for new blood and new faces to breath new life into his label. Rumors such as Bad Boy trying to acquire MMG’s own Rockie Fresh before he decided to make the move to MMG. Or even such speculations that diddy was courting the young phenom, Abel Tesfaye during his House of Balloons, Thursday, Echoes of Silence, Trilogy days.
The friendship between the two fostered to a point where The Weeknd even presented Diddy a gold plaque for his major label debut, despite the fact that he aligned with a completely different record label (Universal Republic). Now what exactly was Diddy’s involvement in all of this that Abel felt he deserved a plaque for. The world will never know.
(Cotdamn, does Drake even got one of them sh@#$ 🙁 )
